Local Walks

Short and longer walks

Having turned right on the bridlepath and walked 50 yards you will see is a long mown avenued path.  Follow this and after 500 yards you will see a bench, which is a good viewing spot.  Next is a gate allowing you to cut across this field towards the far side, aiming for the largest Oak tree.    Then follow the map and enjoy the Marlborough Downs.  All paths should be mown and easy-going.  Dogs will have a field day but please keep on a lead when near sheep, woodlands or on the small road at the West of the property.

The red route

Takes about 45 minutes but can be extended to about 1.5 hours by following the white path.   At the most western end of the white walk is a tiny road. The odd car may come down here, so maybe best to have dogs on lead.  After joining this road, for say 700 yards, you will see a sign to the right, that invites you back onto the farm.  Just follow the bottom of the valley and this will link you back up to the red route and homewards. If you have time please go up to the marked picnic spot-it is very special.

Sundowners

The best sundowner at Hilldrop can be seen where the map says: ‘Best Picnic Spot’:   This is up a steep hill but is, I promise, spectacular.  You will find a BBQ up there and tables and chairs.

The Morning Walk:

Only walk here between February and July please; but if you are looking for a 15-mile view and a walk through the woods then voila.
